Dr. Ladan Mozaffarian is an Assistant Professor of Regional and City Planning in the Division of Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Design at the University of Oklahoma. Her interdisciplinary research examines how transportation planning intersects with sustainability, equity, and public health, using applied, data-driven methods to understand how mobility systems, land use, and the built environment influence accessibility, environmental justice, and quality of life across urban and rural settings.
She is also a leading scholar on innovation districts and technology zones, exploring their economic and sociopolitical dimensions while advocating for inclusive, participatory planning practices. Her work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, and supported by competitive grants, including major awards from the U.S. Department of Transportation and internal funding from the University of Oklahoma.
During her doctoral studies, Dr. Mozaffarian was recognized as Outstanding Student of the Year by the U.S. Department of Transportation and received a DEI Fellowship from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning. Today, she continues to shape the field through teaching, mentoring, and active leadership in professional organizations, contributing research that informs more equitable and resilient approaches to urban planning.
