Dr. Negar H. Matin, Ph.D., LEED GA, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma’s Gibbs College of Architecture. She holds a Ph.D. in Technology from Eastern Michigan University’s College of Engineering and Technology, where she was a five-year doctoral fellow focused on high-performance building systems and their impact on occupant comfort and energy efficiency.
Her research bridges interior architecture, building science, and advanced technology, exploring how design can enhance well-being while minimizing energy use. Dr. Matin has received multiple honors for her academic and research contributions, including EMU’s Outstanding Ph.D. Student of the Year, the GRC Outstanding Poster Presentation award, and the Jones-Beckwith Advanced Graduate Studies scholarship.
In 2021, she founded the OU High-Performance Interior Architecture Laboratory (HPIA Lab), which develops innovative interior environments that prioritize occupant comfort and energy performance. Through interdisciplinary inquiry and applied research, Dr. Matin continues to advance the field of sustainable interior architecture.
