Dr. Suchi Bhattacharjee serves as Associate Dean of Academic and College Administration for Gibbs College. She also holds the position of associate professor and graduate liaison within the Division of Interior Design at the University of Oklahoma. Her academic journey began with an undergraduate degree in architecture from India, followed by an MS in Construction Science from Michigan State University and a PhD in Environmental Design and Planning from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Since 2013, she has been a valued member of the University of Oklahoma faculty. Prior to joining the university, she served as an Assistant Professor of Construction Management at Ball State University, Indiana, for three years.
Dr. Bhattacharjee’s research focuses primarily on indoor environmental quality and the well-being of occupants within the built environment. Throughout her career, she has contributed to over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Over the past six years, Dr. Bhattacharjee has been actively collaborating with interdisciplinary researchers and community partners to facilitate the successful integration of refugees into host communities with a strong emphasis on promoting healthy living and creating welcoming spaces. Notably, she is one of the co-founders of the OU Humanitarian Innovation Research Group (HIRG), a transdisciplinary research team dedicated to developing an effective refugee resettlement model that benefits both host and refugee communities within the United States, while also considering a broader global context.
