Vanessa Morrison

Professor of Practice

Vanessa is a planner and community development professional committed to empowering communities through inclusive engagement and strategic planning. After earning her master’s degree in Regional and City Planning from the University of Oklahoma’s Gibbs College of Architecture, she has led initiatives that address equity challenges, foster collaboration, and activate both spatial and social environments.

Her work spans domestic and international contexts, where she has consulted on urban planning projects, coordinated engagement efforts for marginalized groups, and developed strategies that connect with diverse communities. These include African American communities, trauma-exposed individuals and families, advocacy organizations, business networks, government agencies, and faith-based groups.

With a strong foundation in planning, crisis management, and community engagement, Vanessa brings a nuanced understanding of how to initiate and sustain meaningful change. Her interdisciplinary approach continues to shape equitable and responsive planning practices.
