Assistant professor of Regional and City Planning C. Aujean Lee recently published the article, “‘Working towards a better future for ourselves’: Neighborhood choice of middle-class Latino and Asian homeowners in Los Angeles” in the Journal of Urban Affairs.

The study examines neighborhood selection and homebuying experiences of Latinos and Asians into coethnic or White neighborhoods using interviews. The findings demonstrate how neighborhood preference is tied to passive and indirect socialization and/or racial biases that influence perception of racial hierarchies and place.
