AIA Eastern Oklahoma President Darshan Patel, AIA, was recently featured in a Tulsa World editorial opposing Making Federal Buildings Beautiful Again by forcing architects to use a classical style when designing public buildings.
A 2005 graduate of the Urban Design Studio, President Patel supports the position reflected in the American School philosophy that designs should respond to context and local influences rather than stylistic dictum.

Telesis, a journal produced by students in the University of Oklahoma Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture, has earned first place in the 2026 Douglas Haskell Award for Student Journals for its seventh volume, “Unfold.” This marks the fourth time the publication has earned recognition for excellence in student architectural journalism. It shares the honor with student journals from Columbia University, University of Michigan, and Cal Poly.
