Assistant professor of Architecture Francesco Cianfarani recently delivered a lecture as part of the Lecture Series of the Building Design and Environmental Sustainability class, School of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome.

The lectures series, organized by prof. Michele Morganti, investigates contemporary experimental practices for housing retrofit, with a focus on postwar high-rise public housing complexes.

Cianfarani’s lecture, entitled “L’Abitare Pubblico in Italia: Radici Storiche e Prospettive Future” [“Public Housing in Italy: Historical Roots and Future Perspectives”], explored the theoretical debate around postwar Italian public housing and current cost-effective, sustainable, and equitable models for its regeneration.
