Gibbs College Faculty Honored with National Publication Award

Deborah Richards and Angela Person, assistant professors of Architecture, were recently announced as recipients of the 2023 Journal of Architectural Education (JAE) Award for Design. The JAE Award was instituted in 1985 and is now given annually for outstanding peer-reviewed articles published in the Essay, Design, Narrative, and Image categories during the preceding academic year.  

Richards and Person were honored for their 2022 article, “Equity & Dignity by Design.” The article discusses Richards’s collaboration with the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) to create design guidelines for PPFA affiliates across the United States. Read the full article.

Both Richards and Person will be recognized during the 2023 Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture annual meeting in St. Louis.

Faculty Publish Chapter in New Perspectives in Indoor Air Quality

Associate Professors Lee Fithian, Ph.D., and Elizabeth Pober have published a chapter in the recently released New Perspectives in Indoor Air Quality, published by Elsevier. Their contribution, titled “Chapter 16 – Architecture and the Challenges of Indoor Air Quality,” examines the relationship between architecture and indoor air quality.
