Simon Allford, Founding Director of AHMM, to Lecture at Gibbs College

March 5, 2025 3:30-5pm @ Nielsen Hall Room 170

The Goff Lecture Committee invites you to a lecture by Simon Allford of Allford Hall Monagham Morris.

Simon Allford is a founding director of Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM). He leads a studio of two hundred architects working around the world on the design and construction of projects. These projects reflect his belief that outstanding architecture accommodates different uses to those that called it into being by offering an extraordinary and delightful backdrop to the theatre of everyday life.

From AHMM’s base in London Simon leads a studio that works in the UK and internationally, engaging public and private clients in the exploration of a particular architecture’s potential to offer delight as well as utility. Simon works on a wide range of scales and typologies. Notable projects include the AngelTea and Yellow Buildings as well as Adelaide Wharf, the Saatchi Gallery and Chobham Academy. He recently completed White Collar Factory on Old Street, offices for Google and YouTube at Pancras Square, a tower at 240 Blackfriars, three mixed use projects on Regent Street for the Crown Estate, and an academic building for the University of Amsterdam. He is currently working on projects around the UK, in Europe, the US and India.

Allford is a frequent teacher, judge of major awards and competitions, a writer, and critic. He has been a visiting professor at numerous schools including The Bartlett, UCL and the GSD Harvard. Currently he is a Trustee of the London School of Architecture, The Grimshaw Foundation and Chickenshed Theatres Trust. Simon is a former chair of the Architecture Foundation and is Immediate Past President of RIBA where he initiated the House of Architecture Project.
