Student to Professional Mentoring Experience

About the Program

With the Student-to-Professional Mentoring Experience, the Honors College partners with established alumni, corporate professionals, and industry leaders who host junior and senior undergraduates at special events tailored to support specific career paths. At the events, up to twenty participants are exposed to networking opportunities, learn best practices for securing internships, and receive advice for job interviews. Feedback

First, and I mean this with no exaggeration, the BancFirst STPMX event was the best networking event I have ever attended. I've participated in networking events as near as campus corner and as far away as Amsterdam." -Daniel Rennix, Honors Petroleum Engineering, B.S., Energy, MBA

I got so much out of the Student-to-Professional Mentoring Experience not only in networking but also in emotional support and reassurance from people who have been in my place. Dr. Chambers, Coralee, and Dr. Porter put things into perspective for me as I prepare to take the MCAT." -Sophie Richardson, Honors Chemical Biosciences and Arabic major.

Throughout my visit, I gained valuable insight into several health science fields represented at OUHSC, connected with potential mentors in my future profession, and received guidance with my application. My favorite part was experiencing the simulation labs used by medical residents, and it was so affirming to see how pre-med students such as myself had gone on to find their place in the medical field." Emiline Henderson, Honors Community Health and Microbiology student

I am so impressed with the OU Honors College and am privileged to serve on its board. Being able to go one step further in offering mentoring to the college's best and brightest pre-med minds is a win-win. The students are all so professional, interact with all of the medically related mentors we gather for them and seem to truly appreciate it all. We all followed up with students after the dinner, helped them with med school applications, and encouraged them along their way once in school. It is a fun and important night for all of us!"- Dr. Susan Chambers, Co-Founder of Lakeside Women's Hospital
