Application Deadline: December 15, 2026
The application opens through the OU Common Application scholarship section. Submit your application, GPA, and essays before this date. Students who miss this deadline cannot be considered for the current cycle.
Henderson Scholars Program is a four-year scholarship program at the University of Oklahoma. We select 20 to 25 incoming scholars each year to join a cohort of 80 to 100 students who represent the full diversity of OU and are committed to leadership, community service, and making a difference beyond themselves.
Joining HSP means joining a community that will challenge you, support you, and grow with you from your first day at OU to graduation and beyond. It also means receiving a scholarship that recognizes your commitment and helps fund your education.
Total Scholarship Award
$2,500 per year • $1,250 per semester • Paid over 8 semesters
The scholarship is renewable each semester as long as you meet HSP requirements. Requirements include maintaining a 3.0 OU cumulative GPA, enrolling full-time (12+ credit hours), attending weekly Monday meetings and the annual retreat, completing 20 hours of approved community service per year, and living in the HSP Living Learning Community during your first year.
The application is a two-stage process. Stage One is your OU Common Application, submitted by the deadline in December. Stage Two is a video interview, required only if you are selected as a semifinalist in January. Both stages are described in full on the application process page.
To be considered, applicants must be admitted or applying as an incoming first-year student at the University of Oklahoma. HSP is open to all admitted first-year students who demonstrate the program’s values — we do not select one type of student, one background, or one definition of achievement.
