The Fabrication Lab provides services to members of the student body and the public during operating hours.

The Fabrication Lab is open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Lab, like the Innovation Hub, follows the University’s holiday and closings calendar.

  1. Register for the Fabrication Lab's online training system and complete the required certification quizzes.

  2. Get the necessary materials for the project, unless you are 3D printing (3D filament is provided courtesy of the Lab).

  3. Sign up at the front desk of the Fabrication Lab.

  4. Get to work!

The Fabircation Lab's laser cutter beds' dimensions are 18 in. x 32 in.

Yes, the Fabrication Lab does have materials available for sale, but purchases can only be made using a Sooner Card.

Generally, you can cut or engrave most wood or plywood sheets, acrylics, leather and construction paper. You can also engrave metals and glass. If you intend to use plastics, check online here to ensure the materials are laser-friendly before engraving or cutting.

DO NOT USE :

  • Particle boards
  • Construction plywood
  • OSB plywood
  • Reclaimed or dirty wood
  • Oil-covered wood 
  • Woods with poor veneers. 

You should use STL or 3D files before plugging them into Craftware and operating the printer settings. We recommend you watch a few how-to videos on Youtube for assistance.

The Fabrication Lab provides all filament for the 3D printers.

No, the Fabrication Lab does not have an embroidery machine.

The Fabrication Lab's fully loaded workshop includes most hand tools, tablesaws, bandsaws, drill presses, a planer and jointer, and a CNC. The Lab also boasts a complete woodshop, metal-working equipment and a small painting studio.

While the Fabrication Lab has some basic hardware for use, we recommend if you need specific kinds you bring it yourself.

You must use Adobe Illustrator for designing files before sending them through the printer software.

You can use any software that can export your file as an STL. A 3D object will also work.

The Fabrication Lab provides thread but not fabric.

Minors are allowed with a parent or guardian, but a waiver must be signed for both indviduals prior to using any equipment.

You may use student ID or a driver’s license.

Wait times vary. As school semesters begin to end, the Fabrication Lab sees more foot traffic than usual.

Yes, the Fabrication Lab has all software required to use provided equipment.

The Fabrication Lab's circuitry station has a variety of tools, including:
