Mikayla Foreman is the Operations Manager for the Institute for Resilient Environmental and Energy Systems (IREES). She is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the institute and assists with coordinating and managing all activities related to affiliated projects and programs within IREES and LASI. 

Mikayla joined the University of Oklahoma in January 2023. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and Biochemistry with a minor in genetics, from Oklahoma State University. Mikayla has over ten years of experience working in administrative roles and has a passion for soil health sciences, sustainability initiatives, and composting. 

Mikayla was born in Prescott Valley, Arizona, but has primarily spent her life in Oklahoma on their ranch. She helped found a local non-profit, The Oklahoma Compost and Sustainability Association, and currently serves on the board as the treasurer. Mikayla and her husband live in Bridge Creek with their daughter, Riley, their cows, 47 chickens, four dogs Lucy, Charlotte, Nala, Harley, and a sweet cat named Callie. She enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, and always taking the scenic route. She and her husband own acreage in the Sans Bois Mountains near Robbers Cave where they are currently working on building their vacation home, in an earthship style, by hand.
