Welcome to EDAH 5413 Design and Delivery of Distance
Education Programs!!!
This is Doo Hun Lim, your instructor for this course.
In this first learning module, I'd like to explain
the course overview and several important rules and procedures
for you to successfully take this course.
I hope you can enjoy this totally online course
throughout the semester!
Course Description
This course is intended to provide students with
an overview of pedagogical considerations and applications for
the design and delivery of education and training at a distance.
Students will learn about some of the issues specific to distance
education and training, how to incorporate learning theories and
sound instructional design principles to promote deeper learning,
and tools and technologies to develop and deliver distance learning
and training.

- Required: Designing the Online Learning Experience: Evidence-Based Principles and Strategies (2021) by Simone C. O. Conceicao & Les L. Howles (ISBN: 1620368358)(available from online vendors)
- Recommended: Sustaining Distance Training by Zane L. Berge (available from online bookstores or online
vendors)
Computer hardware and software
requirements
This course will incorporate many web-based delivery
methods and requires specific computer hardware and software.
For hardware requirements, you need to have an access to any networked
computer either by modem, DSL, or Intranet (like campus network).
The minimum speed of the computer processor must be Pentium 800Mhz.
For software requirements, you need to know how
to use the following Internet software:
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher version
- Web browser plug-ins such as Real Player,
Flash, Shockwave, etc.
- Any email program supports file attachment
(such as Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.)
- PowerPoint
- Microsoft Word
- Some graphics editing program (Paint, Photoshop)

Grading
Grading will be based upon your class participation,
assignments, quizzes, and personal project.
Each assignment will be graded and reported to you
online. You should use your pin number (individual pin number
will be assigned later) to identify your grade from the Links
area of the class homepage.
The total possible points from this class are 200:
- A = 181-200
- B = 161-180
- C = 141-160
- D = 121-140
- F = 120 or less
