Shannon Dulin has served as the Bartell Field Camp Director since 2018. Shannon received her B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in geology from the University of Oklahoma. She also holds a B.S. in meteorology from OU.
In addition to Field Camp, Shannon also teaches Field Methods, Native Science, SedPet, Pmag and lots of other cool classes.
When she's not teaching or in the field, you can find Shannon procuring extravagant coffee beans, curating her office supply collection and finding cool moths with her cats.
Steve Adams (not the NBA player) joined the Bartell Field Camp staff in 2017. Steve earned his B.S. in geology from Indiana University and M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. He is also the founder of Bison Underground.
Steve likes to be the first to reach the top of the happy, fun march. His favorite field area is at the cross section of Redemption and the Shiv.
When he's not at field camp, Steve enjoys gardening, smoothies and feeding stray cats.
Sarah George has been teaching at Bartell Field Camp since 2023, including co-leading the regional trip to Utah. Sarah received her bachelor's degree from Wellesley College, PhD from University of Texas at Austin, and she did a postdoc at University of Arizona. Over the years, she's also been involved in instructing field camp with Indiana University and University of Texas.
Sarah enjoys wandering in the woods, cups of coffee on the porch, and yoga.
Gilby Jepson is a professor of structural geology and tectonics. Gilby has a B.S. and Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the University of Adelaide (Australia).
Gilby works on the tectonic history of the Rocky Mountains and is one of the few professors at OU who will make you look at non-sedimentary rocks. He is also extremely approachable.
Out of work, Gilby likes hiking, playing soccer, trains, and listening to long, instrumental electro albums. Preferably the latter two together.
