Catalin Teodoriu is a professor in the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, with more than 15 years of combined experience in the petroleum industry and academia. At OU, he is establishing a one-of-a-kind testing facility for threaded connections and oil country tubular goods (OCTG) under complex loading conditions.
Before joining OU, Teodoriu served as head of the Sub-department for Drilling Technology, Completion and Workover at Clausthal University of Technology in Germany until 2015. From 2006 to 2009, he was an assistant professor at Texas A&M University, where he taught courses in drilling engineering, including Introduction to Drilling Engineering, Completion and Workover, and Advanced Drilling Engineering. He continues to maintain strong academic ties as an adjunct assistant professor in Texas A&M’s Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering and as an adjunct professor at the Oil and Gas University of Ploiesti.
Teodoriu’s research expertise centers on the development of advanced threaded connections for OCTG, as well as drilling challenges, failure analysis, and the design of innovative solutions to improve well integrity and reliability.
