Ramadan Ahmed is an associate professor of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Oklahoma where he teaches drilling engineering and related courses. Previously, Ahmed worked for five years as a senior research associate and adjunct professor at the University of Tulsa. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia; and he earned M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Petroleum Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway. Ahmed worked for more than seven years in the industry. He conducts research in the area of drilling fluids, wellbore hydraulics, degradation of cement and tubulars, and downhole instrumentation. His recent experiences with drilling related research projects include studies on: i) fiber sweeps using water-based and oil-based muds; ii) rheology, stability and hydraulics of fibrous fluids, iii) surge and swab pressures; iv) degradation of cement and tubular in sour gas and acidic environment; and v) intelligent casing and intelligent formation. Dr. Ahmed has authored more than 50 research and technical articles and three book chapters. He has given presentations at national and international conferences. Ahmed is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
