Selene joined the MoneyCoach Program in July 2025. As a MoneyCoach, Selene supports students and their families with financial planning, focusing on key elements such as paying for college, budgeting, and credit building. She was a first-generation student at OU who understands the difficulty of navigating higher education alone. She is passionate about helping students navigate their journey in higher education.

Selene earned a BA in Psychology at the University of Oklahoma in 2022. She is a fluent speaker in both English and Spanish. Selene is currently pursuing a Master of Adult and Higher Education with a focus on student affairs at the University of Oklahoma.

Prior to MoneyCoach, Selene dedicated herself to being a bilingual family support worker for families in the OKC Metro area. Selene empowered families by teaching curriculum surrounding parenting and managing child behavior. While this role strengthened her problem solving and translation skills, it also reinforced her belief of empowerment through education.

Certified as an NACCC (National Association of Certified Credit Counselors) Financial Health Counselor, Selene brings an additional layer of expertise to her role, ensuring students receive comprehensive support in managing their finances.

In her spare time, Selene likes to travel, read, thrift, crochet, exercise, and spend time with friends and family.

Best advice for a high school junior or senior preparing to apply to college:
Ask for help! From having someone look over your essays to sharing your doubts about college, it's important you have support through your journey to higher education. If you don't have support back home, you'll find support here at OU.
