Six Former Sooners Played in Super Bowl LVIII

February 20, 2024

Six University of Oklahoma football alumni — the most in the nation for the second year in a row — participated in the Feb. 11 Super Bowl LVIII between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Center Creed Humphrey (2017-20), tight end Blake Bell (2010-14), long snapper James Winchester (2008-11) and rookie offensive lineman Wanya Morris (2021-22) helped the Chiefs win their fourth Super Bowl in franchise history.

San Francisco 49ers tackle Trent Williams (2006-09) and tight end Brayden Willis (2018-22) were the remaining two former Sooners in the NFL’s championship game.

Humphrey, Bell and Winchester have now won back-to-back Super Bowls with Kansas City.

Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles featuring former Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts (2019) and offensive tackle Lane Johnson (2009-12), faced off against the Chiefs, who also had offensive tackle Orlando Brown (2015-17) in Super Bowl LVII.
