*The following is a reminder email sent to all OU HSC Faculty and Staff on June 10th*

Dear OU HSC Faculty and Staff,

We are in the final stretch of our learning management system (LMS) transition from Brightspace by D2L to Canvas. As we approach the completion of this significant project, we want to ensure that you are fully informed about the final stages, as well as available support and resources.

Key Transition Details:

  • Brightspace by D2L Access: Please be advised that Brightspace by D2L will be permanently taken offline at 5:00 PM on Friday, June 14th, 2024. Access will be unavailable for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Brightspace by D2L Data Needs: An archival site will be operational through June 2025, providing limited access to IT for specific needs such as incompletes/grade disputes, legal compliance, and content migration requests. To submit a request, please visit: https://link.ou.edu/d2l-archive.
  • Canvas for Continuing Education: A dedicated Canvas instance has been established for continuing education and external user engagement. For detailed information, please refer to: https://link.ou.edu/canvas-ce.

  • Ongoing Training & Workshops: IT Learning Spaces has been conducting workshops and training sessions over the past year. These will continue throughout the summer, and we are also available to arrange tailored sessions for departments or programs. For scheduling and more information, please visit: https://www.ou.edu/lmstransition/faculty-resources/training.

Recommended Actions before June 14th:

  • Log In to Canvas: Familiarize yourself with the new LMS by logging in at https://canvas.ou.edu. Explore the interface and verify your course listings.
  • Review Migrated Content: Review your courses on Canvas to ensure all content has been correctly migrated. If you notice any discrepancies or missing materials, please report them immediately for resolution.
  • Retrieve Important Data: Prior to the shutdown, please download any necessary items from Brightspace by D2L. This includes course materials, student submissions, and personal data that you wish to retain.

Taking these proactive measures will help avoid any disruptions to your teaching and learning experience. We appreciate your cooperation and active participation in making this transition smooth and successful. Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.
