In January 2026, the OU's Academic Technology Expo brought faculty and staff together around a shared goal: designing courses that work for every student from the start. On January 15th, the expo was online sessions, and on January 16th, the expo was in-person on the Norman Campus.
After a pivot to a total online Expo in 2025 due to weather, it was exciting and rewarding for the committee and attendees to meet in person.
“The enthusiasm and energy I witnessed from both presenters and attendees truly highlighted the impact this event continues to have across our community,” Michelle Meazell, Instructional Technology Manager for OU IT Learning Spaces and Chair of the Academic Expo, said.
With the updated Title II Digital Accessibility requirements in mind, presenters focused on building accessibility into everyday teaching, not just fulfilling policy.
The event brought together faculty and staff from across the University, creating momentum around designing engaging learning environments.
“Seeing the level of engagement reaffirmed not only the value of ATE today, but the incredible possibilities ahead as we gear up to celebrate our 15th anniversary next year,” Meazell said.
