Dear OU Community,
At the University of Oklahoma, our profound purpose is to change the lives of Oklahomans for the better. This unwavering obligation takes many forms each day, yet it is perhaps most fully realized through the mission and work of our academic health system.
This unique calling – to be Oklahoma’s leading academic health system, where science fuels discovery, innovation leads to cures, and world-class care and education shape the future – sets us apart as a force for health unlike any other in our state. That distinction affords us both the privilege and the responsibility to lead boldly, to elevate health outcomes, and to leave an enduring mark on the well-being of every Oklahoman.
Over the last five years, the work to integrate our College of Medicine clinical practices with our clinical health partner, OU Health, has been transformational in solidifying our standing as an academic health system. Today, we are a collectively thriving organization, delivering care to tens of thousands of patients each year, attracting the best and brightest faculty, training students from seven health professions colleges, and fueling our research missions. And yet still, there is work to be done.
To take full advantage of our impact, we must also ensure our name and visual brand identity embodies the power of our academic health system. That’s why today I am excited to announce that University of Oklahoma Health Sciences will now be known as University of Oklahoma Health Campus. Additionally, the logo used by our clinical enterprise, OU Health, will now include a logo descriptor that connects it more explicitly to the University of Oklahoma – reinforcing our collective missions of teaching, research, and clinical care – and it will be the primary logo used in joint marketing of our academic health system. Logos for our health-related colleges also will be updated to align with these changes.
This new approach follows months of research with numerous internal and external stakeholders and reflects national best practices among academic health systems. It is responsive both to feedback from health care consumers – who indicated our previous branding strategy caused confusion – and to clinical faculty and researchers whose work will benefit from greater alignment under a unified, recognizable identity. We believe this new branding structure will accelerate our ability to recruit top faculty, staff, and students who are eager to work and learn within a leading academic health system. It also will help position us as a destination center for health care and expand the resources needed to drive cutting-edge research.
A webpage is available to help answer any questions, download new available logos, and order essential stationery and business cards. Our Marketing and Communications team is in the process of updating social media handles and website headers, with additional assets being updated over time. We also will see the launch of a multimedia campaign in conjunction with OU Health in the weeks ahead.
Thank you again for your steadfast support and dedication to this university and the life-changing work we are achieving together.
Live On, University,
Joseph Harroz, Jr.
President
