Diplomas are mailed to graduates at the end of each term, approximately eight weeks after final grades are due for the term in which they graduate.

  • Fall Graduates: Undergraduate and master's degree diplomas for fall graduates are mailed in late March to early April; Ph.D. diplomas are mailed in late April to early May.
  • Spring Graduates: Undergraduate and master's degree diplomas are mailed in late July to early August; Ph.D. diplomas are mailed in late August to early September.
  • Summer Graduates: Undergraduate and master's degree diplomas are mailed in late September to early October; Ph.D. diplomas are mailed in late September to early October.

To pick up a diploma in person, students must bring a photo ID. Before we can release a student’s diploma to another person, the student must provide written authorization and the person authorized to pick up the diploma must show a photo ID. Diplomas may be picked up in the Office of the Registrar, located in Buchanan Hall, Room 230 at 1000 Asp Avenue.

A diploma will not be provided for students with a Bursar hold. Contact the Student Financial Center at (405) 325-9000 to resolve the Bursar hold, then contact diploma@ou.edu with an updated diploma mailing address to which the diploma can be mailed when the hold has been released.

Digital diplomas are issued to recent graduates Fall 2021 and beyond via Parchment. Digital diplomas can be shared with family, friends, and future employers. Students will receive a notification from Parchment.com to their OU email with instructions on how to download the digital diploma.

Note: Tuition and fees must be paid in full before digital diplomas are available for download.

We recommend that students add their non-OU email to their Parchment account BEFORE THEIR OU EMAIL ACCOUNT IS DEACTIVATED to ensure continuing access to digital diplomas. To add a non-OU email, create a new account with that email address and merge the accounts following the instructions provided by Parchment.

The University of Oklahoma mails diplomas to students at no charge via USPS. However, some students may prefer to pay for shipping their diploma through express mailing or with a tracking number. The Office of the Registrar provides express mailing with tracking through eShipGlobal, which allows students to pay to receive their diplomas using FedEx, UPS, or DHL instead of USPS.

NOTE: Students who are ordering express mailing services through eShipGlobal and are NOT enrolled in their final semester must follow the steps below for Ordering an Additional or Replacement Diploma, including paying the $50 fee for each diploma copy. The eShipGlobal order is for shipping ONLY, not for copies of documents.

How to Request Shipping through eShipGlobal:

  1. Login or Create an eShipGlobal (or “UEMS”) account
  2. Click the email activation link, then log in
  3. Click “RECEIVE DOCUMENTS FROM UNIVERSITY”
  4. Enter “University of Oklahoma Norman Campus” into the ‘UNIVERSITY SEARCH’ box
  5. Select "Office of the Registrar” from the list of departments provided
  6. Confirm or update the delivery address
  7. Select preferred carrier and shipping service
  8. Select the method of payment (Credit/Debit Card, PayPal, or Wire Transfer) and confirm payment details

Once the order is complete, a confirmation email with order details and the shipping request will be automatically sent to the University. Once the University has processed and shipped the document(s), a notification email confirming that the documents have been shipped and providing the tracking information will be sent to the email address on the account. Tracking the current status of the shipment is available at any time by logging in to eShipGlobal or by contacting eShipGlobal’s Student Support team.

Questions?

Please contact eShipGlobal directly regarding any questions, to make changes to a shipment, for delivery issues, or for any other assistance required regarding all new or existing shipments. Student support representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (CST) via email, phone (800-816-1615 or 972-518-1775 [U.S./Canada] or 001-972-1775 [International]), or chat online with a live representative. Refer to eShipGlobal’s FAQ page for a list of frequently asked questions and answers.

Each diploma copy costs $50. See the Payment Information section below for information on how to pay the fee. We will not provide diploma copies until payment has been processed.

To order diploma copies, the student must submit a signed request and a copy of their driver’s license. Send the request via mail to 1000 Asp Avenue, Rm. 230, Norman, OK 73019, via fax to 405-325-7047, or via email to diploma@ou.edu. Contact diploma@ou.edu with any questions about the diploma replacement process.

The signed request must include:

  • The reason for the request (e.g. need an additional copy, original copy was lost or destroyed, change of name);
  • The student’s name at the time of graduation;
    • If the student is requesting a name change on their diploma, they must first submit a Name Change Request.
  • The degree and graduation term; and
  • The address to which the diploma should be mailed.

Note: In some circumstances, a notarized statement may be required and the student may be required to return the original diploma. Graduates requesting diplomas for employment purposes overseas may need to investigate what authentication may be required by the country where the diploma will be presented.

Payment for any of the above charges can be made online with any major credit card.

The Office of the Registrar will provide up to three notarized documents for a $10 service charge.

If the notarized documents are required for apostille purposes, keep in mind that the student must make arrangements to have the notarized documents sent to the Oklahoma Secretary of State. More information on the apostille process is available on the Oklahoma Secretary of State website.
