PLC & PCS Scholarship Guidelines

PCS & PLC Scholarship Guidelines

President's Leadership Class (PLC) and President's Community Scholars (PCS) scholarship recipients are a prestigious group comprised of undergraduate students selected before their freshman year at OU and receive a partial tuition waiver based on extracurricular accomplishment. These awards are only available for incoming first-time freshmen and have a one-year cash award that is applied during the student's first year of college.

For questions regarding one-year PLC or PCS cash awards, please contact LeeAnn Burns at victery@ou.edu. Students who are not receiving a general OU merit academic partial tuition waiver may also receive a one-year PLC or PCS partial tuition waiver.

 Four-Year Awards
(Advantage Scholars)

Select PLC & PCS awardees (Advantage Scholars) are offered a renewable annual award. This is available for up to eight semesters as long as the recipient fulfills the program requirements outlined below.

PLC & PCS partial tuition waivers cannot be used:

  • toward fees (i.e. enrollment commitment, facility, health or activity fees, housing, correspondence courses, etc.).
  • for tuition and fees through the Graduate College, OU Health Sciences Center graduate studies, or OU-Tulsa campus or at any other institution.
  • in the event of early graduation, unused semester funds will be forfeited.

NOTE: Institutional scholarships, combined with other federal, state and/or institutional aid, should not exceed the published cost of attendance.

Program Requirements for Four-Year Awards
(Advantage Scholars)

1.

Enrollment: A PLC or PCS Scholarship recipient must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at OU each semester.

1.

Grade Point Average: PLC or PCS Scholarship recipients must maintain at least a 2.0 overall grade point average (GPA). Students who show academic success through an OU GPA with a 2.0 or higher will also remain eligible.

Probation Guidelines

1.

If a recipient does not meet the 2.0 overall or OU GPA requirement, the student will be placed on probation for one academic year. The student will continue to receive funding only during the first semester of the probationary period. The student will have one full calendar year to achieve the 2.0 overall or OU GPA requirement. If the 2.0 overall or OU GPA requirement is not achieved by the end of the probationary year, the award will be discontinued.

1.

If the student’s GPA increases to a 2.0 or above during the probationary year, the scholarship will be reinstated. Upon reinstatement, the duration of the scholarship will be reduced by the number of semesters spent on probation. The student will not have the opportunity to recoup the lost unpaid semester while on probation.

Special Conditions

PLC or PCS Scholarship recipients may be granted exceptions to the enrollment requirements listed above on a case-by-case basis. If a recipient cannot enroll in the full-time required hours due to medical or personal reasons, study abroad experiences, internships, or the student requires less than 12 hours to graduate, they must complete a special conditions form

In order to ensure a timely award, PLC or PCS Scholarship recipients who transfer to the OU Health Sciences Center must notify the Scholarship Office through the Norman Scholarships to HSC Transfer request form

For more information on eligibility concerns or terms of the tuition waiver, please contact the Scholarship Office at scholarships@ou.edu.
