One of the things I enjoy most about working for the University of Oklahoma is the strong sense of community and purpose that comes with being part of an institution dedicated to learning, discovery, and service. Every day, I have the opportunity to collaborate with talented and driven individuals who are committed to making a positive impact—both on campus and beyond. It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute to a mission that supports students, fosters innovation, and helps shape the future. Additionally, I appreciate the supportive environment OU provides for professional growth and personal development. Whether through leadership opportunities, staff development programs, or simply being part of a culture that values input and initiative, I feel encouraged to grow in my role and take on new challenges. Being part of OU means being part of something bigger than myself, and that inspires me to give my best every day.
Serving as a senator is important to me because it provides a meaningful opportunity to advocate for staff across the university and ensure their voices are heard. I believe that every staff member plays a vital role in the success of OU, and representing their perspectives, concerns, and ideas is something I take seriously. I want to help foster an inclusive, transparent, and collaborative environment where all staff feel valued and supported. I’m also committed to being a bridge between staff and university leadership—working to improve communication, build trust, and contribute to solutions that benefit our community. Serving on the Staff Senate allows me to be part of the decision-making process and to help shape policies and initiatives that directly impact the working experience at OU. It’s a responsibility I’m proud to take on, and I look forward to making a positive difference through this role.
Although I have not yet had the opportunity to serve on other committees since returning to OU after a three and a half year gap, I bring with me over a decade of overall experience at the university. I’m excited to be re-engaged with the OU community and look forward to becoming more involved in areas where I can contribute meaningfully. Serving on the Staff Senate is my first step toward greater involvement, and I am eager to support initiatives, join additional committees, and collaborate with colleagues across campus. I’m committed to being an active participant and helping in any way I can to strengthen our workplace and support the university’s mission.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and spending quality time with family and friends, whether it’s exploring a new destination, sharing a good meal, or simply catching up. I’m also passionate about running and writing, both of which give me time to reflect and recharge. Attending sporting events and going to the theater are other favorite pastimes of mine; I love the energy of live performances and the shared experience of cheering on a team. In addition to my role at OU, I also teach as an adjunct instructor at another college. Engaging with students and contributing to their learning is something I find deeply fulfilling. Being part of the higher education space, both administratively and academically, allows me to stay connected to the heart of what makes this work so meaningful—helping others grow, discover, and reach their potential.
I have a three-year-old Yorkie named Teddy, and he is truly the king of our neighborhood—or at least he thinks he is! At just 10 pounds, he’s full of energy and attitude, making it his personal mission to ensure no one walks outside their house without his notice. He definitely keeps things lively! Despite his tough exterior, Teddy is a total snuggle buddy at heart. He loves curling up next to me after a long day and has a sweet, affectionate side that balances out his tiny-guard-dog tendencies. He’s full of personality and brings a lot of joy to our lives.
My favorite sport is definitely OU football. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of game day and the energy that fills campus. I love the tradition, the sense of pride, and how it brings the OU community together. As a season ticket holder, it’s always a highlight of the fall for me. In addition to football, one of my favorite hobbies is traveling. I enjoy exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and finding those unexpected moments that make a trip memorable. Traveling helps me recharge and gain new perspectives, and I’m always looking forward to my next adventure.
With OU’s revised strategic plan in place, I see a great opportunity for continued growth in fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and inclusion across all levels of the university. In these uncertain times nationally, it’s more important than ever that we stay focused on our goals while remaining adaptable and responsive to the needs of our campus community. Clear communication and a commitment to supporting both staff and students are key to making meaningful progress. I also see potential for growth in professional development and employee engagement. Investing in our people through training, recognition, and opportunities to lead, which strengthens our workforce and supports the long-term success of the university. By continuing to align our day-to-day work with the strategic plan, we can help ensure OU remains a place where innovation, equity, and excellence thrive.
One of my favorite spots on campus is the Physical Sciences Center. While it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing building, it holds a special place in my heart because it’s where I spent countless hours as a chemistry undergrad. That building represents hard work, growth, and a lot of memories that shaped my academic journey—so it will always mean something special to me. On Campus Corner, I’d have to say The Deli is a favorite. It seems to hold a nostalgic place in the hearts of so many former students, myself included. Whether it was listening to live music or just soaking in the atmosphere, The Deli was a go-to spot for unwinding and connecting. It’s those kinds of places that make the OU experience truly memorable.
