What I enjoy most about working for OU is being part of a mission-driven institution that values collaboration, innovation, and community. Over my past 26 years in OUIT, I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside the university whilst managing and supporting our PeopleSoft HCM and Financials systems. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that the work I do behind the scenes helps keep essential operations running smoothly—from payroll and benefits to budgeting and finance—so that faculty, staff, and students can focus on what they do best. I also appreciate the culture of care and connection on the Norman campus. OU fosters an environment where people genuinely support one another, and that sense of community has kept me engaged and motivated throughout my career. Being able to contribute to meaningful improvements, solve complex problems, and collaborate with talented colleagues across departments is what makes working at OU so fulfilling.

What’s important to me in serving as a Senator is the chance to actively support and advocate for our campus community. I’m passionate about bridging gaps—whether in communication, processes, or support—and I’ve always taken initiative to ensure that issues don’t stall simply because they fall outside someone’s formal role. I believe in transparency, collaboration, and appreciation, and I strive to create a culture where people feel heard, valued, and empowered. Staff Senate offers a meaningful way to connect with colleagues across departments, elevate concerns to leadership, and work together to find solutions. I want to be a voice for others, help staff access the resources they need, and contribute to the caring, communicative environment that makes the Norman campus so special. Serving as a Senator would allow me to continue doing what I love—building relationships, encouraging others, and helping our community thrive.

One of the biggest opportunities I see is around knowledge transfer. As long-time employees retire, there’s a real need to preserve institutional memory and help newer staff feel supported. Mentorship and documentation can go a long way in keeping things running smoothly and passing down what works. I also think we could improve how departments communicate and collaborate. Sometimes things get stuck simply because people don’t know who to reach out to or how their work connects with others. Making those connections clearer would help a lot. And finally, I’d love to see more ways to engage and recognize staff—whether it’s through professional development, wellness programs, or just making sure people feel heard. OU has a great community, and continuing to build on that is something I’d be excited to support.

Outside of work, I love to travel—especially if it means heading to the coast. I have family and friends in the UK and along the East Coast of the U.S., so I try to visit and catch up with them whenever I can. Spending time near the sea is one of my favorite pastimes. One of my biggest joys right now is my almost 3-year-old grandson—he’s full of energy and keeps me smiling and on my toes! I also enjoy gardening, especially keeping my flower beds looking bright and cheerful. When I’m not outside, you’ll probably find me in the kitchen baking some kind of dessert. I love baking, and I still make goodies to support the Cookie Café at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, where my youngest son graduated. It’s a fun way to stay connected, give back, and offer the midshipmen a sweet break from their demanding schedule!
