The American Indian Student Association, commonly referred to as AISA, was established in the early 1900s at the University of Oklahoma. The purpose of the organization is to promote and encourage the welfare of American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian students at OU by providing a broad spectrum of educational, social, and cultural acitivities that support their personal and academic goals.
AISA is a Department Sponsored Organization and is advised by Community Engagement at the Office of Student Life.
AISA membership is open to any enrolled student at the University of Oklahoma who is interested and committed to promote the Native community. However, students do not have to be paid members to participate in AISA events and meetings.
The Five Moons Lounge was established in 2021 following advocacy by the American Indian Student Association to create a space that supports community, connection and learning around Native cultures and experiences at the University of Oklahoma.
Located in Copeland Hall on the OU Norman campus, the Five Moons Lounge serves as a gathering, meeting and study space and hosts AISA meetings, fellowship meals, social and cultural activities, and other student programs.
The Five Moons Lounge is open to all current OU students. Sooner Card access is required to enter the lounge. Any current OU student may request access by completing the access form below. Once approved, Sooner Card access is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
