Greek Fee

The Greek Fee exists to provide the fraternity and sorority community at the University of Oklahoma with a more sustainable funding model for advising and staffing support, programming, and strategic initiatives. This fee is in place to support our growing Greek community.

Implementation and Purpose

At their June 2025 meeting, the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approved the Greek Fee to be billed directly to fraternity and sorority members through their university bursar accounts. Fee collection will begin in the Fall 2025 semester. Funds raised will be used to:

  • Hire additional staff
  • Provide specialized support for risk management and leadership development
  • Implement hazing prevention, alcohol education and harm reduction initiatives
  • Expand training for student leaders
  • Support student-run events

The Greek Fee is set at $30 per student to be billed each semester to individual student bursar accounts. Any student listed as an active member on a chapter roster will be billed for that semester. These funds will support a growing Greek community with over 6,800 members, making up 30% of the OU undergraduate population.

Students who are listed as active members of fraternities and sororities in the Affiliate Circle (AC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and Panhellenic Association (PAN) will be billed the fee. The Greek Fee does not take the place of local chapter or inter/national membership dues and fees, including governing council membership dues and fees, or any housing costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Greek Fee is billed each November and April to your individual university Bursar account. November and April Bursar bills are due on the 25th of each month.

Failure to make an on-time payment will incur a 1.5% monthly late fee.

The Greek Fee is assessed based on the chapter roster verified by each Chapter President. Rosters are verified on Roster Day each semester, and any student listed on a roster after that date will be assessed the Greek Fee for that term.

If you have left your organization, please contact that organization directly, asking them to update their roster to reflect your membership status.

Greek Fee funds will be used to:

  • Hire additional staff to support staffing models similar to our peer institutions
  • Provide specialized support for risk management and leadership development
  • Implement hazing prevention, alcohol education and harm reduction initiatives
  • Expand training for student leaders
  • Support student-run events

All funds from the Greek Fee will stay with the fraternity and sorority community. Student Life staff will serve as account administrators and will seek regular and intentional feedback from student constituents on fee allocation and strategic planning.

If you are an active member but did not see the Greek Fee on your OU bursar bill, that means you are not represented on your chapter's official roster with the University of Oklahoma. You should contact your chapter as soon as possible to let them know so they can update your membership status with Fraternity and Sorority Programs and Services.

Scholarships and aid may not apply to the Greek Fee.

Greek Fee petitions for exemption are open each semester. They will be open on the first day of each fall and spring academic term and will close the Friday of the second week of the fall/spring academic term. Learn more about the exemption process above.

Students petitioning for an exemption for the Greek Fee must apply each semester they are an active member. Exemption requests do not roll over from semester to semester.

If you have additional questions, please call the Office of Student Life at (405) 325-3163 Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM CT or email fsps@ou.edu. Our team is happy to assist!
