Applicant Interviews

Completed applications are reviewed to determine if the applicant will be invited for an interview.  Given the volume of applicants to the program, only completed applications will be reviewed and only the most competitive applicants will be invited for an interview.  Completion of the prerequisite courses does not guarantee that an applicant will be offered an interview for final selection.  Applicants selected for an interview will be notified by email and will have the opportunity to schedule for one of the predetermined interview days.  Interviews are typically scheduled during the month of January. No applicant shall be granted acceptance to the program without completing an interview.

The interview provides the program the opportunity to learn more about the applicant and for the applicant to learn more about our program and the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine.  In addition to interviewing with faculty members, the interview day will provide applicants the opportunity to tour the campus and meet current students in our program.  Information on financial aid and scholarships will also be provided.

Once an applicant is interviewed, the applicant’s file is sent to the PA Admissions Committee for a final admissions decision.  The Admissions Committee bases its decision on the applicant’s file in its entirety, including the applicant’s academic aptitude, personal statement, references, types and quality of healthcare experience and performance during the interview.  The Program will notify each applicant of the admissions decision through the OUHSC Office of Admissions.

Applicants who interviewed and are not accepted for admission can request formal feedback of their application by submitting a written request to the program. A formal review of the application is completed by the Director of Admissions and is conducted via email.

*Please Note: Applicants who have not completed all of the required prerequisite coursework by the date of their interview are required to bring documentation showing that any outstanding coursework is in progress or planned.  A copy of a class schedule or a transcript listing coursework is adequate documentation on interview day.  Applicants who are accepted into the program must submit documentation of course completion prior to matriculation into the program.
