Matthew Cancio

Matthew Cancio, M.Ed., LPC

Matthew Cancio earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Lutheran University in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from The University of Oklahoma, with an emphasis in Drug and Alcohol Counseling.  Matthew completed his graduate practicum hours at both the University of Oklahoma Counseling Psychology Clinic and the Latino Community Development Agency (LCDA) in Oklahoma City.  In a professional capacity, Matthew has been heavily invested in higher education in both Texas and Oklahoma and has worked with a multitude of different communities of varying identities and faith-based backgrounds. 

He strongly believes in holistic, community care and in creating places of belonging that validate and affirm individuals from all walks of life.  The creation of these environments of healing, acceptance, and collaborative growth is a life-long endeavor, and one that he enthusiastically engages in wherever he is.  Areas of clinical interest for Matthew include anxiety, grief counseling, depression, trauma, substance use issues, multicultural counseling, and couple’s counseling.
