Individual Career and Academic Planning (ICAP)

The term ICAP refers to both a process that helps students engage in academic and career development activities and a product that is created and maintained for students’ academic, career and personal advancement.

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Education website, ICAP is a student-driven, ongoing process that actively engages students, enabling them to:

  • Understand their own interests, strengths, values and learning styles
  • Create a vision of their future
  • Develop individual goals
  • Prepare a personal plan for achieving their vision and goals

At OU, we believe that the Individual Career Academic Planning (ICAP) process can be a fantastic opportunity to leverage your career development plan to find your right major!

Below are a few ways ICAP can help you in your on-boarding and advising process.

Use ICAP to Find the Right Major

Use ICAP to Build a Personalized Strategy

Need help deciding on a major that fits your interests, skills and career goals?
