Animal Care and Use Program (ACUP)

The University of Oklahoma (OU) Animal Care and Use Program provides a solid and secure foundation for research, testing, or teaching based upon adherence to concepts of animal welfare as a necessary basis for ethical and reliable animal use outcomes.

Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC)

The IACUC oversees the use of vertebrate animals in research and teaching on the Norman Campus of the University of Oklahoma. All users of live vertebrate animals must request approval from the IACUC for research and teaching activities.

  1. Visit the Training and Safety page for step-by-step instructions to obtain clearances to work with animals at OU.
  2. Visit the Forms and Resources page for information on how to submit an animal protocol for IACUC review, IACUC policies, facility expectations, and more.
