Summer Updates

Updates to Summer Programming

As the global COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, so too does our response. At every turn, we continue to keep the safety and well-being of each of you in mind. Please read below on how we’re making efforts to continue slowing the spread of the virus as it relates to summer opportunities. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please know we’re excited you’re considering joining the OU Family, and we’re happy to provide you support and help along the way. We cannot wait to welcome you all to campus as soon as possible! Your safety and health, both physical and mental, are our biggest priorities.

All New Sooner Orientation sessions are moving online for summer 2020. If you are planning to enroll at OU in the fall, this is how you register for your classes.

If you have NOT scheduled your New Sooner Orientation Day, please do so as soon as possible. You can register for your online NSO by logging in to oubound.ou.edu.

If you have already scheduled your New Sooner Orientation Day, you will remain registered for that day, but it will be online instead of in person. You will receive a new confirmation email with details about the day!

You will still have the opportunity to meet an academic advisor, enroll in fall courses, and learn about everything you will need to know before attending OU. Parents and families are still encouraged to attend programming virtually with their students.

A schedule of the day will be sent to your OU email before your New Sooner Orientation Day so you can be prepared to log in and attend your orientation from home. Be sure to complete all of the necessary steps before your Orientation Day, including:

1. Submit Official Final High School Transcripts and Official Scores

Submit all official AP scores to the University of Oklahoma from the CollegeBoard Website. Please request that your official final high school transcript and official transcripts for all colleges or universities that you have attended, for either concurrent or enrollment courses, be sent to the University of Oklahoma. Official transcripts should be mailed to:

Office of Admissions & Recruitment
1000 Asp Ave. Room 127
Norman, OK 73019-4076

For additional information about submitting transcripts, contact the Office of Admissions & Recruitment at 405-325-2151 or email oardocuments@ou.edu.

2. Assessments

  • Math Offer and Assessment

  • Math Offer

    • Based on multiple factors (such as admit term, ACT/SAT scores, high school academic experience), some incoming freshmen may receive a Math Offer. Any incoming freshman that has received a Math Offer will see this information on their confirmation page of their New Sooner Orientation registration.

      • Math Assessment

      • For incoming freshmen that did not receive a Math Offer, students will take the Math Assessment for placement into a math course at OU.

      • Please see our Math Offer FAQ for any questions you may have regarding the math assessment or the math offer. For additional questions email ucquestions@ou.edu or call 405-325-3521.

  • English Assessment

    • Please see additional information regarding the possible need to take the English Assessment.

  • Reading Assessment

    • Please see additional information regarding the possible need to take the Reading Assessment.

3. Complete the Pre-Advising Questionnaire
In order for your advisor to best prepare for your advising session, it is essential that you complete and submit the brief New Sooner Orientation 2020 Questionnaire at least three days prior to your NSO day. You can access the New Sooner Orientation 2020 Pre-Advising Questionnaire here.

Registration is now open for OU's first ever Virtual Camp Crimson! Camp Crimson will begin June 22 and run through August 7, and programming will be completely flexible.

Based upon your interests you select on the registration form, you will be placed into a small group of 20-30 students and three Small Group Leaders who are current OU students.

Students are encouraged to spend one hour each week focused on informational modules (Campus Success, Academics, Involvement, Leadership, etc.), but the remainder of your time will be spent getting to know your small group.

After move-in in August, you'll meet with your small group for fun activities and campus exploration before classes begin! Camp Crimson SGL's are currently hard at work to develop programs and activities that will meet safety guidelines while also creating community.

There is NO COST to attend this year's Virtual Camp Crimson. Click here to register. Registration closes June 19.

Please visit ou.edu/campcrimson for more information or email campcrimson@ou.edu.

Due to the widespread nature of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the University of Oklahoma has limited campus tours to high school seniors and transfer students planning to attend OU for the fall 2021 semester. We hope to have registration open soon for on-campus tours for tour dates of August 24 and beyond. Tour dates will be added throughout the semster to ensure our plan to welcome guests to campus stays up-to-date. Thank you for your continued patience during this time.

In the meantime, you can register for a Live Student Guided Virtual Tour with a current OU student tour guide or sign up for a live admissions information session webinar to hear from an OU admissions counselor about academic programs, involvement opportunities, the admissions process, and more.  Attendees are encouraged to ask questions throughout the presentation.

Additionally, we encourage you to check out our Self-Guided Virtual Tour to explore some of the same great spaces that you would have seen on campus. You can also virtually follow OU tour guide, Ryleigh, as she shows you a preview of the University of Oklahoma campus.

Fraternity and Sorority Programs and Services (FSPS), through the Office of Student Life, is currently working on securing dates for Fall formal recruitment for the Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council and Panhellenic Association. Our other two Greek Councils, the Independent Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council, do not host a formal recruitment and will host their recruitment process informally throughout the fall semester.

GREEK LIFE INFO:

Students interested in Greek life and Fall recruitment should visit greek.ou.edu.  On this page, you will be able to view our Fraternity and Sorority Experience Guide which provides information about our Greek community, including chapters on campus and financial information. You can also explore each individual Greek council to see what each offers for members.

RECRUITMENT DATES:

Registration:

Our expected registration open date is June 1 for the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association formal recruitment processes. Visit ifc.ou.edu and pan.ou.edu for updated information. This date is subject to change in the event the university needs to adjust fall dates due to COVID-19.  You can find registration info at greek.ou.edu.

For the Independent Greek Council, Multicultural Greek Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council, dates to sign up or information sessions will occur once the fall semester starts.

Recruitment:

Dates for formal recruitment will be available soon. We are working with state and local health officials and university administrators to develop a timeline to ensure a fall recruitment process that puts the safety and health of the OU campus and Norman community at the forefront of everything we do. We will post dates on our website (greek.ou.edu), via social media (accounts listed below) and work with the Office of Admissions and Recruitment to get information via email to incoming students interested in Greek Life.
