Hasnaa's Bio

I earned my Ph.D. in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education in 2026 from the University of Iowa and joined the University of Oklahoma as a Lecturer in Fall 2026.

My research interests include Spanish language education, heritage language education, raciolinguistics, language ideology, language and identity, sociolinguistics, and critical pedagogy. Broadly, my work examines the intersections of language, power, identity, and education. My dissertation examines the language ideologies embedded in Spanish as Heritage Language (SHL) textbooks and how these materials construct subject positions for heritage speakers of Spanish.

At OU, I teach beginning and intermediate Spanish-language courses.
