Banned Books Week Events 2025

September 29, 2025

Join OU Libraries and OU's School of Library and Information Studies from Monday, October 6th to Friday, October 10th in bringing awareness to Banned Books Week and celebrate your freedom to read by connecting with us at:

Tulsa Campus: Check out the displays at the Schusterman Library highlighting banned books and censorship.

Norman Campus:

  • Monday, October 6th to Friday, October 10th: connect with resources, grab swag, and check out banned titles at both the West and South entrances of Bizzell Library

  • Monday, October 6th, South Oval, 9:00am-3:00pm: join us on the South Oval to speak with current students, librarians, and other professionals about what you can do to fight censorship, keep books available in your libraries, and promote the freedom to read! Grab SLIS and library swag and resources.

  • Wednesday, October 8th 5:30-6:30 pm (Zoom): attend our interactive webinar Protecting Voices by Combatting Soft Censorship. With book challenges on the rise, instances of soft censorship in libraries are most likely rising, too. This session will define what soft censorship is and provide librarians with advice for ensuring all voices are protected on our library shelves. Free to attend, registration required.
