WebStudy Course Content Outline Wk 1 Wk2  |  Wk3  |  Wk4
Monday, January 4th to Saturday, January 9th, 1999 (last day of class).

Week 4 (Overview)   Please, reload this page each time you view it, (I'm updating often).

This week is "all about" expanding your subject and outline into your web pages.  I'd like for each of you to have pages that you are proud of, and collectively have a body of work that is representative of your skills and abilities.

Here is "my" example:

I'd like for each of you to view your classmates work and give them "help" where possible.

Your WebStudy Web Page work should be:

  • A subject/ topic of your choosing.
  • Of intellectual value (to OU and/or your classmates).
  • Minimum of 2 (to 10+), linked web pages, with at least 3+ (small) images (of your choice).
  • Work should must be part of (referred to, or from) a larger body of work (where possible).  For example the classlist page.
  • Individually distinguishable within any group or committee.  I want to see "your work," if you are working in a group.
  • A product you are proud of.
Remember, this is a 6 day work week!

Monday, January 4th

Work on creating the pages that are necessary to expand the concepts your organized in your outline.htm page (from Week 3).

Work on these tasks as you organize your work:

  • Create "something you need" using Netscape Tables (p.285) and publish it to your webpage.
  • Use the Edit and Existing Page techniques (p. 232)  File > Edit Page.
  • Use the right mouse button to delete the rows that are not important (A good way to learn about tables, is to create a few, and editing them).
  • Experiment with different colors and styles (p. 300).
  • Show me "the best" you can do.

Tuesday, January 5th
  • Read: (p. 285-301) Creating Tables
  • Read: (p.303-308) Advanced Page Design
Continue to work on your web pages.

Wednesday, January 6th
  • TBA

Thursday, January 7th

Put your WebStudy page on Yahoo, Excite, Alta Vista (or other) search engine.  Choose any or all, but submit your WebStudy Page to the Search Services of your choice.

Read Advertising your Web Page  (p.315).

For example, Go To:
http://www.excite.com/

At the bottom of the page there is a link that says Add URL,  Ref:

http://www.excite.com/Info/add_url.html

Read the instructions carefully, then fill out the form, (and Submit it).

(You can do the same for "each" of the various search engines, if you want).

You must look closely to find the link to add your page.  Please make sure you are providing a complete and accurate address.  I usually Go To: (the page I am submitting) using my Netscape Browser.  Then I "copy" the URL from the Location Field (using the right mouse button).  You can "paste" the address directly in the form field so you don't make a mistake typing

For example, here is the "complete" address for DEC 98 WebStudy:

http://www.ou.edu/class/webstudy/DEC98/index.html
