Teaching self-efficacy is a teacher’s perceived capability to successfully accomplish a teaching task in a particular context. It correlates with student motivation, student achievement, teachers’ job satisfaction and their commitment to the profession. However, the developmental process of teaching self-efficacy remains unclear. The purpose of Wang's research is to investigate how mathematics teachers at high poverty and high diversity urban schools develop their teaching self-efficacy. The findings of this research will advance the understanding of teaching self-efficacy development, teacher preparation and professional development, and policymaking regarding teacher retention and education equity.
