Gaylord College Announces 2024 Lumine Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Joy Harjo

The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication is proud to announce Joy Harjo, the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States and a revered member of the Mvskoke Nation, as the recipient of the 2024 Lumine Lifetime Achievement Award. The Lumine Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony is an annual event hosted by Gaylord College honoring exceptional women professionals who have made significant and sustained contributions to the media industry.

Scholarship

Gaylord Student Awarded Scholarship from The National Press Club

The National Press Club has chosen journalism student Kevin Palomino as the recipient of its Lewis Scholarship for Spring 2024. The scholarship provides housing and a $4,000 stipend to support a student journalist of color interning at a news media outlet in Washington.

OU Creative Media Production Professor's Book Selected as a 2023 Choice Outstanding Academic Title

Dr. Ralph Beliveau, a creative media production professor in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma, has been honored with the 2023 Choice Outstanding Academic Title award for his co-edited book, “Screening #MeToo: Rape Culture in Hollywood.” This recognition is bestowed annually by Choice, a publishing unit of the American Library Association.

In its rankings of student achievements, the Broadcast Education Association has recognized the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma as the No. 2 program in the country out of 170 member institutions nationwide.
