Entrepreneurship and Venture Management

Entrepreneurship and Venture Management

What is Entrepreneurship and Venture Management?

Student building project in iHub

Students who dream of starting or owning their own business should put OU’s Entrepreneurship and Venture Management program at the top of their list. Award-winning faculty and students make the program a top-notch option for a major course of study at the Michael F. Price College of Business. Students take classes in starting and managing businesses, new product development, financing, field studies, and business planning. Graduates of the program say that it gave them the tools to turn their ideas into realities.

We collaborated with the Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth to form Sooner Launch Pad, a program empowering students, graduates, and members of the Oklahoma community to pursue their entrepreneurial endeavors. The purpose of this program is to help our graduating students find connections for launching their ventures as it provides a fertile environment and sound guidance.

OU’s Tom Love Center for Entrepreneurship is a leading entrepreneurship program- ranked a top 20 program by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine for the past five years. At the Center for Entrepreneurship, students experience entrepreneurship and learn by doing. We focus on creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem that enables entrepreneurship students to learn through experience and launch successful business ventures. Students are immersed in the entrepreneurial process through hands-on innovation programs and all-expense-paid visits to entrepreneurship hubs spanning the globe. Students learn how to build new ventures with the help of practicing entrepreneurs and leading entrepreneurship scholars. We empower students with the resources and opportunities they need to launch a successful business venture.

Launched in 2016 and named in 2017 after benefactor and Oklahoma businessman Tom Love, the Tom Love Innovation Hub’s mission is to increase innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Oklahoma and across the state through a unique operational model that combines openness with opportunities. The state-of-the-art facility features innovative tools for today’s entrepreneurs, including a digital fabrication lab, code and visualization labs, and collaborative spaces, as well as the Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth.

The undergraduate program is composed of five distinct steps. We believe these steps will best prepare you to set forth on your entrepreneurial journey. The five steps are Integrated Business Core, three-course sequence, learning from entrepreneurs, experiential learning, and Governor's Cup.
