What is International Business?

How can an OU International Business degree help me?

Students who have a second language and who can live independently in a foreign country have a competitive edge in the job market. They will be attractive to companies like Price Waterhouse Cooper [PwC], whose headquarters are in London, England. Learning a big-picture view of the business world makes students more prepared for changes and more adaptable. The second major allows students to specialize and capture a seat with a growing multicultural corporation.

What courses will I take?

International Business, International Human Resource Management, Cross-cultural Management, International Marketing/Advertising, International Law, International Trade, International Financial Management, or International Financial Statements  

How can I study abroad?

International Business majors are required to complete a pre-approved international experience for a minimum of eight weeks. Students often study abroad for a full semester while learning a second language, although student can also go overseas in the summer and in an English-speaking country, if preferred. Wait, I can have a minor?

There is not a minor in International Business. As there are language requirements for this major, it is not uncommon for students to add a minor in a language.

How can I get involved?

  • The International Business Association is a student organization that increases the students’ knowledge, appreciation and experience in this field as well as providing students with the opportunity to network with others and participate in International Business competitions.
  • Phi Beta Delta is an honors society dedicated to recognizing scholarly achievement in international education.
