What is Environmental Engineering?

Using the principles of physics, biology and chemistry, environmental engineers develop methods to meet environmental challenges such as water and wastewater treatment, air pollution control, solid and hazardous waste management, waste recycling, and water resources management. Environmental engineers understand and protect us from environmental hazards, and learn to build solid structures without polluting the environment. OU Students have the opportunity specialize in water and wastewater engineering, solid and hazardous wastes engineering or hydrology/water resources with their environmental engineering degree.

High school preparation should include chemistry, physics and calculus.

How can OU Environmental Engineering help me?

OU environmental engineering students develop skills through experiential learning by practicing what is learned in the classroom through real world experiences. Program Accreditation

The environmental engineering program is accredited by the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology. An environmental engineering student graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering degree. An accelerated Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Environmental Engineering degree is also available.
