Top 3 Things to Know

1

The Department of International and Area Studies (IAS) is a multidisciplinary unit composed of talented professors who study a multitude of regions and issue areas. We offer a dynamic, timely, and engaging curriculum, which truly fosters global fluency.

2

We promote and advocate for the internationalization of the college experience. All IAS majors must study a foreign language, and we highly recommend participating in a study abroad experience. We also provide merit and need-based scholarships, which help fund study abroad programs, internships, and research.

3

Our students learn practical and applicable skills in the classroom and are assisted in finding internship and networking opportunities beyond the classroom. The learning process connects students to possible employers and prepares them for jobs on a global scale.

The College of International Studies hosts incredibly accomplished faculty, staff, and students who make Farzaneh Hall feel like a second home on campus. Every professor is passionate about their research and teaching, and they share this excitement with their students. I have never had an IAS professor who seemed too busy to spend time with students, and I have even had multiple professors share internship opportunities tailored to my interests. All the advisors are responsive, flexible, and helpful—they made it easy for me to get all the credits I need to graduate, even with two study abroad experiences. The College of International Studies truly goes above and beyond in fostering a positive academic atmosphere and helping students accomplish anything they want.
