Dr. Jason Harris, Advocacy Chair and board member for the Oklahoma Museums Association,, helped promote Oklahoma’s 500-plus museums at Route 66 Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol on April 21, 2026.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Route 66, and Oklahoma is home to more miles of the original “Mother Road” than any other state. To celebrate the occasion, communities, museums, and organizations from across the state set up displays at the Capitol. There are 168 museums along Route 66 in Oklahoma, providing countless visitors with the opportunity to explore our state’s rich cultural heritage. The group was joined by Oklahoma’s Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell. As Lt. Governor, Mr. Pinnell actively promotes tourism within Oklahoma.
