Week 1 (Overview)

The first week is dedicated to getting organized and learning how to handle the Netscape Software. While we get organized I'd like for you to accomplish several tasks that will help you gather necessary Internet skills.  Please make every effort to accomplish everything listed here.

Use e-mail for private discussions, and the list-server for public discussions, group discussions, and to turn in (these and other) assignments.

Reading assignment page numbers refer to the WebStudy Textbook unless otherwise specified.

Week 1 Reading Assignment (summary)

Look at all the pages from the August 1997 WebStudy Course Outline  There is some really good information, but it relates to Netscape 3.0.  Those of you that are "very new" to computers (or the Internet) will find these web pages very helpful.

Begin reading pages 121 - 201,  Part III, Mail, Discussion Groups.  These pages contain the information you need to use Netscape e-mail.  If you experience any technical problems or need any assistance with "hooking up" your e-mail contact the help desk or call: (405) 325-4636. The two most prominent difficulties..., connecting to the mail server and providing your Reply To Identity can be solved by reading Pages 331 and 329.

Below you will find the AUG98 WebStudy course outline.
