Aerospace and mechanical engineers design and build the tools, machines, and aeronautical technology that propel us forward, moving us into the future.
They are essential to manufacturing, oil and gas, aerospace, defense, civil infrastructure, health care, and consumer products industries. Led by our award-winning faculty with a philosophy of experiential learning, students gain a broad range of knowledge making them strong competitors in today’s job market and preparing students at all levels to solve engineering problems that are seen on a daily basis. Through project-based education, working in teams of fellow students, and the 31 full-time faculty of the school, students gain a unique educational experience.
A University of Oklahoma researcher has published two high-impact studies that take on that challenge of building the devices that make and use clean hydrogen reliably.
Sooners Without Borders (SWB), a student organization in the Gallogly College of Engineering, recently took a group of 11 University of Oklahoma students to Ecuador for an international service-learning experience. The group spent winter break, January 7–18, 2026, at the Regeneration Field Institute, a 70-acre regenerative agroforestry farm focused on sustainable land management and community collaboration.
A hands-on workforce development workshop on advanced construction technologies, focusing on 3D concrete printing, recently took place at the Fears Structural Engineering Laboratory. The workshop provided undergraduate students from Civil Engineering (CE), Architectural Engineering (AE), and Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering (AME), ranging from sophomore through senior levels, with a real-world research environment for experiential learning.
