Aerospace and mechanical engineers design and build the tools, machines, and aeronautical technology that propel us forward, moving us into the future.
They are essential to manufacturing, oil and gas, aerospace, defense, civil infrastructure, health care, and consumer products industries. Led by our award-winning faculty with a philosophy of experiential learning, students gain a broad range of knowledge making them strong competitors in today’s job market and preparing students at all levels to solve engineering problems that are seen on a daily basis. Through project-based education, working in teams of fellow students, and the 31 full-time faculty of the school, students gain a unique educational experience.
Dong Zhang, an assistant professor at the Gallogly College of Engineering, has been awarded a highly prestigious CAREER Award by the National Science Foundation (NSF), an early-career recognition that comes with a five-year, $556,000 grant to study next-generation batteries.
Researchers from the University of Oklahoma have made significant breakthroughs in a promising technology for efficient energy conversion and chemical processing. Two recent studies involving protonic ceramic electrochemical cells, called PCECs, address significant challenges in electrochemical manufacturing and efficiency.
Two University of Oklahoma students, Brooke Rogachuk and Liam Thompson, have been named 2025 Goldwater Scholars for excellence in natural science, engineering and mathematics.
