At the University of Oklahoma Polytechnic Institute (OUPI) on the OU-Tulsa campus, part of the Gallogly College of Engineering, students in Dr. John Hassell's Cloud Computing course recently took a creative approach to learning technical concepts by stepping away from the computer and into the world of zine-making.

Nearly 50 high school students from three states spent four days at the University of Oklahoma exploring one of the fastest-growing fields in technology during the inaugural Artificial Intelligence Summer Camp hosted by the Gallogly College of Engineering.

Over four weeks this summer, teams of incoming engineering students designed mobility devices for Duck, a young rescue dog born without a front leg. Students in OU’s Engineering Summer Bridge program designed and prototyped mobility devices tailored to Duck’s needs, using CAD software, electronics and 3D printing while applying the engineering design process to a real engineering problem.

Engineering Days at the University of Oklahoma give high school students direct exposure to engineering through hands-on, discipline-based experiences on campus. The program brings rising juniors and seniors to the Norman campus for one-day sessions led by OU faculty and supported by current engineering students.
