College in the High School - College Algebra is only offered at the Norman North campus. Norman High students can enroll in the course, but classes will take place at Norman North. The fall semester is a prep math class, this means students will not earn college credit for this specific semester. Students must pass the fall semester course and be an admitted OU student to enroll in the spring semester. This semester is when college credit is earned for College Algebra.
Benefits
College Algebra is a requirement for all majors at OU. This course also acts as a prerequisite for the majority of other science, economic, and math courses at OU. By enrolling in this class, a student is earning credit and can take higher level courses at an earlier time.
Once admitted, students will make an advising appointment to get enrolled in classes. Advising appointments can be made at iadvise.ou.edu. Advising appointments will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the following advising windows:
If enrolling in CIHS English: Students will send their counselor the updated schedule to be added to the class roster at the high school.
If enrolling in CIHS College Algebra: An updated roster will be sent to the school on a recurring basis.
Students enrolled in CIHS College Algebra will not be enrolled in a course through OU until spring semester, contingent on passing the first semester prep course.
