OU Teacher Bound x OCCC

OU Teacher Bound x OCCC is a partnership between Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) and the University of Oklahoma (OU) Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education for students interested in becoming a PK-12 teacher.

This program provides you with coordinated advising between OU’s College of Education and OCCC to ensure that you have a smooth transition from OCCC to OU so you can become a certified Oklahoma teacher in a timely manner and get into your classroom and start changing lives!

You will be invited to events hosted by OU’s College of Education, so you can develop relationships with advisors, faculty, staff, and students at OU before you officially transfer to OU.

You will have the opportunity to take SLC 1001 Success in College and in Life taught by an OU College of Education professor at OCCC.

Let your advisor know or reach out to OU Teacher Bound X OCCC by emailing Deveda Mason at jrcoe.advising@ou.edu. You will be asked to sign a letter of interest in transferring to OU to be eligible for the program benefits.

As a participant in this program, you are eligible for the TEACH Grant which provides $4,000 per year for up to four years and the Inspired to Teach (I2T) Scholarship which provides $1,000 per year for freshman-junior years and $2,500 senior year, to support the completion of your undergraduate teacher education degree. Inspired to Teach (I2T) also provides an additional $20,000: $4,000 awarded for each year you teach, up to five consecutive years, in an Oklahoma school.

Additionally, upon transfer to OU’s College of Education, you will be eligible to receive many more scholarships as well as apply for the OU Debt Free Teachers Program.

Yes, the OU College of Education takes groups of students each year to Uganda and every other year to Italy and Mexico. You will be provided with a scholarship to help support your study abroad experience with the OU College of Education.

No. However, we hope you decide to join us at OU’s nationally accredited College of Education where, upon graduation, you can teach anywhere in the US and the world.
