The OU Piano Area seeks to support its students through the awarding of scholarships and graduate assistantships.
These awards are given on a competitive basis, with careful consideration given to the audition, interview, and application materials. Additional opportunities for funding are available from the University of Oklahoma and the Graduate College.
School of Music and Piano Area scholarships are available, and all piano majors are eligible for these awards, which are granted based on merit, financial need, and available funding. Scholarships may be one-time or recurring awards. For prospective students, scholarship consideration is included in the audition process and does not require a separate application. Current students must apply through the university’s Centralized Academic Scholarship Hub (CASH) to be considered. For more information, please contact Dr. Murphy at jpmurphy@ou.edu.
All graduate degree applicants are automatically considered for assistantships. Applicants are encouraged to detail all related professional experience on the CV submitted with the application for admission. Graduate assistanships are available in:
GA positions include a tuition waiver for all required degree credits, a monthly stipend, and basic student health insurance. Doctoral students may hold an assistantship for three years upon the recommendation of the faculty and master’s degree students for two years. International students may be required to successfully pass an English-language test; see the OU Graduate College Website for detailed information.
