OU Download Component

When working within the Content Parsys all web components must first be placed inside of a Section Component

The Download Component allows you to link directly to a file that users can download from your website. It’s most commonly used for sharing documents like PDFs, Word files, or spreadsheets. You can customize the display text, choose a file from the DAM (Digital Asset Manager), and provide accessible file names to ensure a clear experience for all users. 

Usage

  • This component is ideal for forms, guides, and other downloadable resources.
  • Use when you want a file type icon to display for your download.

How to Add the Component

Click within a section component to insert new components.

  1. Click the + icon 

  2. Choose OU Download

Configurable options for the Download Component:

  • Description (Optional)
    Optional supporting text that appears below the file name. Use this to briefly explain what the file is or why it’s useful. 

  • File
    The document you want users to download. Files must be uploaded to the DAM (Digital Asset Manager) before they can be linked here.

  • Display Name
    The text that appears as the clickable file name on the page. Use a clear and descriptive title so users know what they’re downloading.

  • ID (Optional)
    Assigns a unique identifier to the component, allowing it to be targeted for advanced features such as linking.

  • CSS Class (Optional)
    Applies a predefined visual style to your component.

How to Configure the Component

  1. To start using the component, click anywhere on the component and a menu will appear.

  2. Click the wrench icon to enter configure mode.

Working within the Component

  1. (Optional) Enter a description for the file. This text appears below the download link. If you don’t need a description, you can skip this step.
     
  2. Add your file by dragging it from the Assets panel on the left side of the screen into the File field. Important: Do not upload files directly from your computer. All documents must be uploaded to the Digital Asset Manager (DAM) first. 

  3. Enter a Display Name for the file. This is the text users will click to download the file. Make it clear and descriptive. 

  4. Click the check mark to save your changes and close the window. To cancel without saving, click the X.
